I wouldn't worry about adding branches and such to the bottom, I would add more foliage and vines/branches higher up. You want him to feel like he is high up in the trees with lots of branches and leaves to climb on and hide behind. Your highest horizontal walkway should be about 8" below the basking and UVB bulbs.
