Hi all! My name's Alissa, I live in Florida and I just got my first chameleon last week. It's a few months old, they said around three, but I'm still not sure if it's a boy or a girl. Some colors are coming in right now. I just want to give it a proper name!

Any advice not only on the gender but on raising the chameleon in general would also be much appreciated :D If it IS a girl, I'm mostly nervous about the egg-laying that'll happen in the future. Like I said, if you have any advice, just pass it on.

Yep, little female. Don't worry, there are ways to reduce the chance of her laying eggs. I'm only familiar with the tips for veiled females but I think they're the same. If not, hopefully someone will correct me.

When she turns about 5-5.5 months old try to keep her warmest temp, her basking spot, at 80 degrees. And limit her food so that she's not eating more than about 8 food items every other day. The lower temps will keep her metabolism a little slower so she won't feel starved either, so she'll be fine. By doing this she'll either not lay eggs at all or lay just a small number of them. And all you need to do is proide a laying bin for her juuuust in case, and she'll use it if she needs to lay any eggs.
