Panther/Yemen Behaviours

Hi all - I currently have 2 young Chameleons. One is a Yemen of 3months and an Ambilobe that 4 months.

I have had them both for a month and I have been studying their behaviours each day.

I know each Cham has it's own personality and this can influence behaviours (just like humans).

I have noticed my Yemen is more eager to explore and when is not basking he is always on the move. Usually up until lights out or 30mims before.

My panther seems to just bask all day, or hang around the same area in his viv and usually retreats to "bed" about 2 hours before lights out. He curls his tail with eyes open just waiting. I often think he may be bored!

Are these differences down to species? Age? Or just purely personality?

Thanks.

never had a panther so i'm no expert. i will say age may be a factor, mine has changed as he's gotton older, he wanders more now [he's 1.5 years old].

My Yemen/Veiled explore and patrol a reasonable amount, male more than female - but he has a bit more room :)
They do have their favourite 'zones' for basking, pooping, misting, etc, and I never kept a Panther so I can't compare really.......

my guys are the oppisite, my panther is all over and my veiled loves to just chill out and bask under hit light. unless he sees a pc of kiwi then is on

Right now I'm caring for 6 panthers and 3 Veileds. The veileds by far show more personality but they are all just as sweet as they can be and I love everyone of them. Although the sweetest has to be one of the female panthers.

Your description of the Panther describes my male, Veiled. My female is a bit more mobile.

So in answer to your question, Bernie, it's 'Personality', lol.
Chameleonality, since it's an indefinable characteristic..........
