Hey there folks, just hoping on getting some feedback here.
I have a 3 month old panther that has developed a problem with one of her eyes. She is the only chameleon that hatched out of a batch of "infertile: eggs laid by one of my adults (the eggs weren't buried in a nest site, instead just randomly dropped throughout the cage over the course of a week). She seemed fine, if small, when born and I noticed no deformities whatsoever.
I have learned, sadly, that I was over supplementing my panther adults, particularly with Calcium w/D3 and have since curtailed this. One of my original adults also developed a problem with one eye and I suspect that this may have been the cause.
At any rate, this little one is healthy in every way and growing at a very healthy rate. She is still in a smaller enclosure with a lower wattage heat bulb (40 watts) and a Hagen Repti-Glo 5.0 bulb. I have been supplementing a little more than my adults but think I have done a good job not going overboard.
One eye is fine, but the other is noticeably smaller and often shut. I give a gentle misting 3-4x daily and am sure this isn't an obstruction of any sort.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated,
Mike Knott
