I found this add on black water reptiles, would much rather have experienced members here pick them up than rookies because of the price!

No this is not to good to be true. Backwater Reptiles is selling Calumma parsonii cristifer babies for only $199.00. For whatever reason Backwater Reptiles does not want to raise this group of baby Calumma parsonii parsonii as they did with the clutch they hatched out last year. I am going to visit and talk with them sometime this month about this clutch of Calumma parsonii cristifers.

Best Regards

Can you update us ?

Can you update us ?

When I go to visit Backwater Reptiles if they has any left I can update. However it sounds as though they may have sold out already.

They have advertised a couple of batches now. And yes, they sell out quickly at that price! My heart feels so heavy when I think of the date of these little guys! They are not a beginner chameleon and they are sold way to little! I wonder what the survival to adulthood stats would look like! Horrible!

They should have started selling these babies at a minimum of 4 months of age. With that said that is a young age as is. However I have my digits crossed some of these babies survive long term.

That is the sad problem we face here! Odds are that most of them will die! Such a incredible species! Such a sad fate!

Progress continues to be made with Calumma parsonii ssp. Last decade almost nobody on or off the Chameleon Forums in North America was hatching Calumma parsonii parsonii. This decade Calumma parsonii parsonii phases that have never been bred or rarely been bred such a Calumma parsonii cristifer are being bred with some regularity. That is something/progress that should continue. However not everyone seems to want to raise their babies properly.

As the third breeder in the USA to have ever succeeded with Cristifer, I am well aware! I am also desperate for new blood for my future breeding purposes! But not at that price! When I saw how young they were being sold I was in shock and made up my mind to never buy anything from these people ever!

That is the rub. Sam did not raise the babies the way they should be raised. The way everyone here on the Forums expected him to raise his babies. In the long run it won't have done him any good for his reputation here on the Chameleon Forum especially. My Yellow Lips are doing great. However they were 4 months old when I decided to buy them. I think he started to sell the Yellow Lip clutch when the babies were at 3 months of age. The were young then however were reaching a more durable size. That is more about what I was thinking for these Calumma parsonii cristifers.

Dumb question. How do you "go to" Backwater Reptiles? As far as i know they have no phone number or structure, they are a very loose group of sellers that have a common web site. It would be like someone saying they are going to goto the chameleonforums forsale section and check things out this weekend.
