Parsonii

I like the longer days this time of year. I'm able to feed the parsonii in the morning as usual, and also after work in the evening. Snapped this photo at around 7:00pm. Dubia roaches and a mix of Mantis were on the menu.

I think there is a smaller sub species but I'm not sure if there are different types?

Steve I really enjoy the cage set ups you have. They just look so woody and natural. Your parsons is beautiful.

Could be, that your seeing parsons at varied ages, and sizes. Two subspecies, with color morphs popping up yearly. I've been told I might have a green (pictured) giant. White lip, yellow lip (a sub species), orange eyes, yellow giants are all common morph names.

There are two species of parsons. The Calumma parsonii cristifer which is smaller of the 2 species and almost solid blue then there is the Calumma parsonii parsonii which is the bigger of the species and is what parsonii you are seeing on the forum. There are also locales in parsonii to like yellow eye, orange eye, yellow lip, white lip, giant green and I think a few others. If you look at my parsonii he has 5 lines instead of the 3 lines most have on here but he is a yellow eye white lip so I don't know how many locales there are and if mine is different from Steve's but they are all awesome ...... Hope this helps.

I think they have all got a taste of the giant katydids. I like to hide them inside the cage and watch the slowest moving chameleons around, suddenly bolt to catch those green winged things.

Oh and I was going to let you know I split some up for gutloading the other day and I put some cricket crack in there just to see what happens and holy crap they eat it faster then the crickets ...... I was shocked because I have always gutloaded them with green thinking that's all they would eat. I was wrong lol.

I'll have to try that. :D The smaller parsons also went crazy for a few butterfly species I fed to them over the weekend.
