personal mister for chameleon??

It doesn't look like there is a big enough reservoir to make the whole project worth it.

Sams sells a misting system for $30 that looks promising. Its also made by Misty Mate but its for outdoor patio cooling. Has anyone seen that one? I'd like to know if anyone has tried using one of those?

I meant changing the resevoir to work with the components of this one?

It essentially needs to be hand pumped to create pressure.. perhaps there is something i could buy that keeps the pressure and I could activate it on a timer to go on twice a day or once a day

If you are only having one or two chameleons misted I'm sure you could get a misting system for under $100.. This idea just seems to be a lot of trouble.

it may seem too much trouble for you... however I enjoy creating things myself obviously when it is doable, rather than spend large sums of money.

I believe the model you are speaking of is the kind that is attached directly to a timer on a hose bit and runs straight from the water line. This can be a great option for outdoors... Wouldn't recommend it for indoors though unless you have a 100% full proof way to plumb the runoff from your cages outside or down a drain. Any fail in the timer system, and you have the cities water supply dumping into your cage and your home.

As for the personal mister... What you are touching is on is pretty easy and has been done a lot... and can be put together fairly cheaply. Summoner12 had a thread on here a while ago about h ow to make your own for less than $100. I used to use one, it worked well for my needs for quite a while.

I use patio misting systems- a couple of brands linked up on the same line. I got one with 6 nozzles for $5 on clearance last year at the end of the summer.

Great for outdoor use- keeping my chams comfy this summer in spite of a record heat wave in my area.

Normally we have temps around 85-88 with less than a handful of days reaching 90 or above. This summer most days in my area have been 90 or above temps below 90 have been the exception- many days have reached 95 and the highest 98. My mellers (adults and juvies) (and veileds and wee baby panthers) are doing great with the patio misters.

It is important to provide shade, and dry shade and sunny areas in the enclosures as well as misted areas, and plenty of ventilation. Don't force the lizard to be wet and don't force it to be wet to be in the sun or the shade (provide dry shade, wet shade, dry sun, and wet sun) I use 1 mist head per enclosure- the air in the enclosure - even the air not misted directly in the dry parts of the enclosures are cooler than the air outside the enclosures.

Normally I use about 4 hours in the hottest part of the day- this year I've had to use several hours from early afternoon to early evening because of extreme temps.

I would not use this sort of thing in my living room. I suppose one might be able to hook it up to a strong pond pump placed in a tub of water and rig something up for use in the living room though...

I don't know about using those components... Maybe pieces... But you use a large Res Pump srayer made for gardens, it is easy to attach on a hose timer that open and realease mist, and close again and retain pressure. The trick is leaving enough room for air in the res... to build up enough pressure to last through the mistings while you are away.

*Note... I am getting frustrated searching for Summoners thread... maybe he will throw it up here.

I was wondering if they were junk or not. I will prob go with the mist king for inside use. But as you stated this would be a good option for outdoor use without putting such a dent in my wallet. I only have 4 at the moment, when my others arrive I will be taking the misting system plunge.
