Phineas is Six! (March 25, 2017)

Phineas turned six today! I've had to restrict a lot of his movement because he is not able to grip as well and falls sometimes. I took down all his vines across the living room, dining room, hallway, television, and bathroom. He wasn't too happy in the beginning, but he has adjusted to just staying on his little free range area now. I love this little guy and it is sad to see him aging. He still has his attitude, however, and I am thankful for that!

Happy Hatch day Phineas! You are still one handsome boy and very lucky to have a mom that loves you and treats you like a king.

wow 6... around this age is the mobility startin to show really big?

Yes. He moves very slowly. He has a weak grip and almost no grip in his front left foot. He does not have the strength to right himself if he falls over. I have come home a couple times from work, and he was on his side. I have no idea if he was like that for a few minutes or several hours. I righted him up and he was fine. He still has his same personality and he still wants and tries to do the same things he has always done - he just can't now. He will eat only occasionally, and then it is only hornworms and silkworms. I give him Reptaboost in between and that seems to be helping. He still drinks very well.

The last picture had me laughing so hard. He is the king, surveying his subjects....
"You dare approach me, peasant? feed me bugs as penance for your crimes..."

Well, actually, that IS how it is! His free range is above my head so he does tower over all of us. Hmm. Maybe that's where he got his attitude. . .

Phineas is named after P. T. Barnum. I had never actually heard of the Phineas and Ferb show when I got him. Of course, afterward, that's the first question people would ask!

Thanks, everyone for all the nice comments. I was reluctant to post his birthday this year. Just bittersweet because I probably won't be posting his birthday next year. I just love the little guy so much!

Thanks again,

Deb
