Walking through the expo today constantly repeating in my head "im not going to buy anything. im not going to buy anything". I stumbled upon these two and said to myself "FU@# im going to buy something". So here we are with a male and female australian Water Dragon. We have some issues to deal with but i think they will do great.

Ooooh how totally cool looking they are! Congratulations on the new exhibit at your zoo lol:D oh your your wives nails look nice too, Chuck would be proud lol!

Hey hey- I've got some of those too!

I got mine to lay eggs this year. Ended up taking most of an afternoon digging up the earth in their outdoor terrarium before I could find those eggs- she hid them really well. Cage is 8' x 4' and I dug the whole dang thing up until I got to the last square foot of earth to find them LOL.

The babies are doing great.

If you want to swap a few babies next year, please let me know!
:)

not very many running around anymore. we should definitely do that.

lol the last bit of dirt is always where they will be!

That is exactly what I was thinking.

I've had mine a couple of years. First year didn't get them to cycle. Tried temps constantly in the 50s for 5 months with no ambient lighting. This year I cooled down to 50s and 60s with no lighting other than windows in the room for 4 months and they bred for me. They were awake and alert but motionless. Water was available and I did see them sit motionless in it sometimes.

Congrats, water dragons are super cool. I came close to getting one about a year ago but was able to control my desire.

fluxlizard: Congrats on the successful hatch. Thanks for the tips. I will definitely try that. I will keep you posted on them.

ferretinmyshoes: me 2. they remind of the 80's!

laurie: Please tell me you secret! i want to learn how to control myself... :)

Amazing..

First time i have witnessed this. This female australian water dragon completely submerged. Like a alligator! She was not just underwater for like 5-10 seconds. Im talking long enough, i freaked out a TAD bit and thought ok she may be dead. Guessing a little over minute but who knows how long she was under till i came back in.

Could have startled her but who knows. Anyone witnessed how long they can stay under?

They can submerge for a looong time- 30 minutes?
Are you not cooling yours for breeding then?
Mine have been brumating since oct 1st.

Seriously, 30 minutes! thats crazy...

We have had a few obstacles to go around. She had a pretty nasty lip sore that is healed now. Its took a good chunk out of her lip but in all shes looking really good.

I understand how you felt. The first time my CWD went underwater and stayed like that I freaked too!!. But I could see her sitting there looking at me so she appeared to not in any distress. Finally she popped up from under the water and went to bask... Your AWD are sooo awesome!!

We have eggs! She laid four eggs today. I have been noticing the male head bobbing at the female a bunch lately but other than that i never saw any copulation or signs that she was gravid.
