picky eater/ vitas supp

I have a chameleon who has suddenly turned into a picky eater. He used to eat super worms, which were really easy to dust with vitamins. Now he eats crickets that are in the cage, but he lets them alone for a long time, there is no way the vitamins/ dusting will stay on the crickets.

He used to eat from my hand, but that stopped about 2 weeks ago ( although I still try)

I have also tried a feeder cup ( both clear and not clear) and he does not want the worms in the cup...only crickets... and they jump out.

any ideas?

I gutload and dust my cham's crickets. Only give him a few at the time so he will eat them faster. How old is your cham? You may want to try only feeding him everyother day.

he is a year and a half. I have had him for about a month. When i first got him he would eat 4-5 worms a day! now he won't touch them.

all is normal.
Chameleon in the wild eats close to 300 insect species.
in the captivity, the # is greatly reduced to 6 or 8.
it makes sense for him to pull a hunger strike on certain feeder if fed on a constant regiment.

Hello Remmy,
Their are two things that can be done.

1) You can go to feeding him every other day or maybe wait him out for a couple of days.
Not feeding him for 3-4 days wont hurt him, but will get him interested in any food items you place in his cage.
I've had this problem with my guy Igor since last November!
He just started eating every day on Monday, but thats only 3 days.
We will see how long this continues.
I've tried crickets, roaches, supers, silkies, a dragonfly, moths, hornworms, etc.
He was only eating 4-5 supers a week.
For some reason he is eating silkies like they are going out of style.

2) Change to a different supplement
I'm not sure about the vitamin supplements made by Sticky Tongue Farms, but the Minerall will stick to insects for days!
I've had superworms with calcium on them for over a week.
Give that a shot.

Good Luck
