Plant that doesn't die in the direct light and heat?

I have tried both a large ficus and an elephant tree and they have both died due to the direct light and heat all day? I'm trying to find something that would be big enough to be he main plant for him, but that won't die so fast? Any suggestions for a plant that's safe for him and can handle it?

Yes, Sheffelera(aka umbrella) will grow tall, fill out and can take direct sun and heat. I live in Fla and use those in my outdoor cages and they do great. They are also safe if your chameleon decides to eat it! I am surprised the ficus died. I don't know much about the Elephant plant.

What kind of lighting system are you using? It's possible that the plants are not getting enough of the light spectrum they need. Sheffelera arboricola is a great plant for chameleons.

You need a 6500K plant light or similar bulb to get growth. Any leaves by the basking light will go brown, just clip them off.

Pathos is nearly indestructible; they can't be over-watered, and they take the heat of a reptile room. They also grow very fast.

CHEERS!
