Hi guys,

Please help my poorly beardie. He has had a swollen eye for a few weeks. It seemed to be getting a lot better but all of a sudden it got worse and we can't get him in to a vet. Look at my pics. Any idea what on earth is wrong with the little guy.

Thanks

That needs to be seen by a Vet-is looks infected and painful. I know that is probably not what you wanted to hear, but please don't let him suffer.

I know were trying out hardest to get him in the the only decent reptile vet we have doesn't always work! I think we should be able to get him in Friday with some luck. Is there anything we can do in the meantime. We love Draco lot's and don't want to see him like this :-(

100% the response I was going to give. A vet is unavoidable from those photos. I was interested to see the photos as my own bearded dragon had a problem with one of his eyes. I took him to see a vet and he had to be put out whilst the vet examined his eye. My beardie had a puffy watering eye that I'm glad to say is o.k now. Your beardies eye looks all red and infected, poor beardie will be in a lot of pain sadly. Its URGENT you take him to see a vet.:(

Edit, in the meantime it wouldn't hurt to flush his eye out with sterile saline solution in case sand is in there....

Hi guys,

Got him in at the vet thank god. So he will be going there tomorrow. And jojackson, that's just dirt on his nose. He did have a problem with it when he kept bashing in but we used some ointment and it turns out it had just scabbed over and the scab cam off. It does go a little pink sometimes. I don't think it's a big issue but whilst he's at the vet I'm gonna ask him to take a look.

Did the vet say what was wrong with your beardie's eye? Kinyonga asked a good question, what type and brand UV lights are you using? Have you replaced them lately?

Hi guys,

Well draco went to the vets yesterday and he seems to think that he's sustained an injury probably from scratching or bashing it which has turned into a little infection. He said his eyelid was a lot bigger then his other eyelid so it's prssible that he may have a growth but we wont know until the infection has gone. Got him some eye drops and he's absolutly fine with them, he doesn't mind at all. The vet wiped a lot of the gungy stuff off and took a good old look and his eye looks so much better already. He gave him a thorough check over and weighed him and all is fine. So hopefully 10 days worth of eye drops will sort him out.

Thanks

I just scimmed over responses to see you've taken him to the vet. Looked to me like there may have been some debris in the eye and up the nose. He'll probably recover well since you've had him to the vet. Please let us all know how he's doing.

Prayers are with him for a speedy recovery.
Cheers,
Phil n Deb

Hi guys,

Well it's been a week since the vet visit and he has 3 more days left of eye drops. Draco is doing brilliantly and his eye looks so so much better.

Little fighter hehe.
