Please ID this plant for me

I found this beauty at Walmart today. Not sure what it is but I could not pass it up. Anyone know what it is so I can look up care for it?

Does it have a plastic pot inside? Usually will say the plant name on that.

I would say a type of Calathea which are safe for chams im sure. Not very sturdy though.

Yeah it will be in my office. I am one of those picky freaks when it comes to plants that I allow in Beman's cage lol.

I just loved how pretty it was.

DING DING DING You are right... Thank you! Cool it says it does not like direct light so I have the perfect place in my office for it. I was worried it would need high light and all my pothos are taking up the spots under the LED's I hung so really no room for another one there.

I just loved how pretty it was.

Like the purple veining on the bottom of the leaves.

This was the first one I have seen. I love the bottom of the leaves. Wish the top looked like that lol.

Go buy one! says they love high humidity and low light. They do not like their soil wet either. Should do well where you live. I am hoping my lack of humidity here won't kill it off.

I had one a few years ago, it grew nice and big, then I gave it to my mother for her office. Needless to say, all children got their black thumbs from her, RIP pretty Alcasia!

Use to have a black thumb until I got succulents. If you kill a succulent than that’s when you know gardening isn’t for you

Yeah, they thrive when I leave them alone, but as soon as I try to nurture them, they're dead! I have been getting better though. I think I have adult-onset green thumb!

Oh gosh, I have horrible memory, but I got it as a baby and grew it to probably a size or two bigger than yours before I gave it to my mom. So nothing huge-huge

I’d have had a hard time passing that up, too. Beautiful! You’ve already got an answer, but I use the PictureThis app for plants I’m not familiar with. It looks like it’s paywalled, but tapping on “cancel” at the top right takes you back to the app’s interface to take pics with and all that good jazz

How big? I need to get a larger pot for it but if they get huge maybe I should get a bigger one.hey usually grow slowly and come from a bulb. I almost killed mine with too much water. Literally let it get dry as a bone and then water.

I think its alocasia polly but not 100%. They are notorious for plant pests so be sure to “quarantine” it and clean it / treat it.
