Hi everyone. Was hoping maybe some people on here with some experience on incubating panther chameleon eggs can give me an idea on when my eggs are going to hatch? They were laid on oct 31. Have been in a homemade incubator out of a wine fridge that stays between 73 &78 degrees.
Sorry for the crappy photos dont have a good camera.

You can't tell when eggs are going to hatch... You just have to be patient. The crackle effect on the eggs means they are growing so that is a good sign. Have they started to sweat at all?

Forgot to mention that i did candle them and I did see veins. They also look like they have little pressure cracks from some growth to or something.

Just a quick question. One of my eggs seem that part of the shell are flaking off. Is this something I should be worried about? Is this caused by too much moisture or not enough or is this normal?

hydration

I never bred chameleons, but I have bred bearded dragons and I know for dragons eggs have to be a little buried in the vermiculite/perlite or whatever substrate you're using. This is usually done so that hey eggs could absorb moisture. I'm not sure about how it is done for chameleons, I've seen people who keep them on top like you and then add drops of water on the substrate to add moisture to the eggs and some that do bury them, but you might wanna make sure they're well hydrated :)

The peeling is fine, that's normal. But who knows when your eggs will hatch, mine incubated at a very similar temp range and took almost 10 months. Other Florida friends using the same temperatures hatched out at 7. So unless you see definitive signs of hatching (sweating, denting, piping, etc.) there's no way to calculate the time.

All sounds like its running along just fine. You are right at 6 months and I would guess you could have babies soon :) Are you ready with feeders? Fruit Flies take close to a month to produce. You could start now and be all set. Good luck, I also would not candle them again they are growing fine.

Cool Thanks for the reply. I got some producing cultures of hydei fruit flies from josh's frogs and started making my own cultures on April 25.

I have my baby bins setup and waiting for the first hatchling. Now just the waiting game!!! I'm so exited to make it this far Can't wait.

They are blue bar ambilobe. The male I got from East bay Vivairums at an expo and the female I got from a sacramento expo.

Good news everybody I woke up this morning and checked on the eggs and one of them started sweating. Can't wait to get off work and check on the progress. Soo exited just had to share!

who knows

i just hatched my clutch and the ambilobe eggs were from june 18th most of them hatched 3 weeks from one another around feb march...then a few more in april then the last one hatched on mothers day . thats almost a year. i have learned to be patient dont mess with them if the substrate is moist just leave them alone
if a egg is bad it will mold if there not molding leave them alone

Thanks for the reply.

I let the eggs do there own thing other than checking for how moist the substrate is and for eggs sweating.
