Ponytail Palm?

My 10 month Veiled has a Ponytail Palm in her enclosure. She is currently shedding, and today I saw her munching on her palm plant. I gave her some strawberries instead and pulled her off of it. Will she be okay? I feel stupid for not assuring it was safe first. Thanks everybody!

It shows up on several lists for plants for birds (which is what I usually check) as nontoxic (also listed nontoxic for cats and dogs), so I think you are fine. Fruits or leafy greens would definitely be more nutritious, so if you have a nibbler, use that as an opportunity to get some enrichment foods in her!

There is a real danger of the razor blade leaf edges cutting the chameleon and the plant is not good for lateral perching. I'd replace it with something more suitable and safe.

I was going to say the exact same thing! I have a ponytail palm in my front room and it has some gnarly leaves. It cuts me every time I have to work with it.

So, I am with Andrew, I would go another direction.

Actually, (and I should've told you this before) I'm not sure that it is a Ponytail Palm. It has very long, flimsy leaves and a 4 inch wide twisted trunk. When she sits on it, she kind of weighs it down bc the leaves are so flimsy. It is well kept and watered every day, but the only problem I worry about is poisoning from eating the leaves. And, I come to the conclusion that she's probably fine bc she isn't sick or anything. She may not have even eaten much due to the shape of the leaf. Thanks for your time.
