poop question

Hey kind of a dumb question but I just want to make sure my 2.5 month old cham is eating enough. How often should my baby panther poop? Thanks

Mine all poop at least once a day as youngsters. In fact-they almost always poop daily still.

Baby Poo Poo

At least once a day. Babies will often poop more than once a day. You want to see an increasing size in the poop as time goes by. Next week's poop should be a little bigger than this week's poops. They should be chowing down at that age. It sounds gross but you should be in tune with the pooping habits of your cham. You should know how often it poops, what it normally looks like and question any changes in the future. Baby and juvie poops are cute, and yes, I said that. After seeing lots of big adult poops, seeing hatchling and baby poops was a pleasant change :) I don't like looking at the big adult male poops but do it because it's important.

Can you tell if your over/underfeeding by the size of it? Just asking because my 6 month old Amilobe for the last week has been dropping some bombs, like twice as long as his own head.

Poopies..........

When they are at the height of growing they should be putting out some things that amaze you. As long as the really big ones are within the scenario of doing poops daily, that is good. When they are adults and they put out amazingly large things daily then you may want to look at the body fat situation and see if the adult is being feed too much. Some adults can eat too much if you let them. Also, if the adult cham is not pooping daily, but taking very large poops every couple of days, you may want to adjust the diet to help "move things along". Or make sure the cham is drinking enough. Silkworms have a lot of liquid in them. They seem to help with regularity.

What you want to avoid is constipation. With constipation the cham has to really strain to get what has built up in there out. This is a factor that can cause a rectal prolapse. Stuff dries out a bit when it stays in the cham for more than a day or two. That makes it harder to get out. Good size poops on a daily basis in young and growing chams is not normally a problem. Although they look big they are soft enough to pass without straining.

Have I really discussed poop this much today?!

Funny thing is that today I was getting worry that my female veil chameleon pooped a tremendous dump, the size of a bullet to be precise. I am glad to hear everyone has the same concerns.
:D
