Possible skin infection?

First off i'll fill out the how to ask for help sheet:

Your Chameleon-I have a male veiled chameleon, Not sure how old he is but defiantly a juvenile

Handling-To be quite honest I handle my chameleon every day, But he absolutely loves it, at risk of sounding odd we have a pretty strong and mutual bond

Feeding- 5-7 crickets a day along with 10 mealworms twice a week

Watering-I have the exo-terra monsoon rs400 set to go off every two hours for 45 seconds, and it really does drench the leaves so if he's thirsty its there every two hours

Poop-One fairly large log of brown poop in a greyish slimey coating along with a smaller pure white with a yellow goop squishy substance in the shape of a waxworm lol, probably once or twice a day

History- So I took my veiled chameleon to the herp about a month ago and he had that orangish pigment in the corner of his mouth and he had told me it was a skin infection and prescribed Silver sulfadiazine cream once a day on both corners for two weeks

Cage- I just recently put him in the reptibreeze xL cage, 24x24x48 so he has PLENTY of room now and is a very happy cham:)

Lighting- I have the Zoo med combo deep dome dual fixture with two zoo med repti sun 10.0 mini uvb bulbs and a slimline 18" tropical fixture with a tropical t8 fluorescent uvb bulb - at night i turn that all off and i put in a zilla night red heat bulb into the dome and put it right under his sleeping spot at the top to keep him warm

Temps- Well the entire cage is room temperature im guessing, im not going to check, but he likes to sit on his little ladder at the top all the time and i put the dome fixture right on top of that which keeps his usual sleeping spot and chilling spot a consistent 85 degrees

Humidity- Well considering its a gigantic open air screen cage it doesnt hold moisture very well, but i do have the monsoon set go go every two hours or 45 seconds, and to keep the humidity in i have one nozzle pointed at a grouping of leaves for him to drink and the other pointed at the bottom as to soak the moss up to hold it in, that being said my hygrometer reads a pretty consistent 45% .-.

PLants- Just a bunch of plastic leaf plants wrapped around his vines and some put on the back wall

Location- Well its in my room about 4 or 5 feet from a vent, but that vent is covered but still does get some air out, and its relatively close to a window that most of the time has its blinds closed though

Okay, so finally my chams current problem is that a few days to a week after taking him to the herp the orangish "Skin infection" Spread to all around his color spots, along with on his little through spikes and back spikes, even after staying consistent with the application of the medicine.. I dont know if this is a skin infection or simply part of him developing his colors turning into an adult. Another things ive been very very concerned about his is head ornament and neck flap things on the back of his head, theyre a pretty dark black/purplish color and have been for a little under a month. I dont think theyre bruises because he doesnt seem to be in any pain when i put pressure on them.. Any input on what these two things may be would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

The purplish colouring is normal colouring as they get older I believe. I don't see any issues with the other colouring, it looks to me like grown up colours coming in. Does it stay there all the time, does it alter if his colours change?
Do you dust your feeders? How do you gut load them?
He doesn't need any light at night, they prefer total darkness and a drop in temp at night is beneficial to them.
I'd also get rid of the substrate, veileds are very prone to eating stuff and it could cause him to become impacted.
He heeds more plants, more highways in his cage.
Not sure if it's cos he's got his eyes closed, but they look a little sunken. Do you see him drink?
Kath.

It actually stays there all the time.. Kinda worries me. Even if his colors change the orangish and the purplish stay.
I use flukers calcium food for my crickets designed for chameleons, and i dust them about 3 or 4 times a week and every time i put some more in i dust them again unless i just did it.
I know he doesnt need the light but he s FREEZING at night without the light like almost ice cold! It really worries me.
I kinda need the substrate to keep the humidity in otherwise it goes down to like 5-10% and ive seen him snatch up crickets and get some i moss in there too but he pulls it out of his mouth with his hands.
I'm actually in the process of getting a custom reptile perch tree made for him from a company so im just waiting on that and honestly he doesnt even use the space he has, he just sits at the top of his latter all day at the top of the cage occasionally moving to go down to the bottom do find a cricket.
Right now he's still adjusting to his new cage and i dont think he's really noticed the water on the leaves because the spray nozzle kinda scares him, i'm trying to show him though.

Sounds like you got it all figured out. Really thou the dump the heat lamp he can go down to the low 50f if its colder then that in your house is like to know where you live. They like the temp drop at night. Also the substrate can work but can really be a pain and be more bad then good. I would use more real plants to help humidity. It gives him places to walk and hide and you can dump that substrate. You really need way more green leafs in that cage.

Hi, was this picture taken during his normal sleeping hour?

Pictures are to blurry to tell if there is actually a problem. From what i can make out it looks like normal coloring.

For the the future health of your veiled. I strongly recommend you reading this and changin what needs to be changed. https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/chameleons/

Moss substrate with a chameleon is not a very good choice for humidity control. Fill the cage up with live plants and if need be buy yourself a room humidifier. If your humidity is seriously 5-10% in your room. You will also benefit from raising the humidity up a little.
