We have a female chameleon named Phillipe, we have had her since april 8th she was about 3 inches when he first got her and really everything has been going fine.
But lately she has been acting funny, very shaky when moving and this morning i woke up to her on the bottom of her cage and she was cold! I picked her up and placed her on a branch close to her heating lamp and had to leave.
When my boyfriend came home about an hour and a half later she was on the floor and cold again!

she isnt moving very much and is currently just laying in my boyfriends lap flat on her stomach. it seems like she is having a really hard time standing up.
She doesnt look any different, maybe a little fatter.
I don't know if she might be developing MBD or pregnant....she seems way to young to be needing to lay eggs already but im not sure!!

Please any help or tips to finding out what it might be would help! There is NO reptile vet in town!!

the picture out side was taken a few days ago. the one on the lap was taken just now.

The first picture it does appear that she has MBD, you can see the bowing in her limbs.

For how advanced it is, I dont think you caused it, since youve not had her very long.

You need to get her calcium intake up.

cna you fill this form out so we can see how you have been caring for her>

more details

Your Chameleon - veiled Chameleon, female, has been in our care since April 8th 2012
Handling - Not to often, as she doesnt really care to be bothered. but on days when shes not so moody i try to take her out and let her sit on my hand outside for about 15 mins.
Feeding - She is on a diet of mostly crickets and Roman lettuce, she is given about 10 crickets or so in the morning and eats through out the day. the crickets are gut loaded with oranges potatoes and fluckers vita cubes
Supplements - exo terra calcium+ d3 and muli vitamin, this is the process we have been having trouble with at first we thought we were over supplementing her because she was having a white discharge coming out of her nose so we started giving her them less often. the calcium +d3 is about very other day to every 3 days and the multi vitamin is 2 times a week.
Watering - we mist her with a spray bottle using bottled water, mostly up to 5 times a day. Some days she will want you to spray her directly and drink the water as it falls on her and others she runs from the water. the amount of time i spend misting each time depends on how she reacts to the water.
Fecal Description - her poop has been a normal brown color and consistency seems to be normal. although after cleaning her cage yesterday i have not seen any feces in her cage. She has not been tested for anything while in our care.
History - she was purchased from petsmart.
Cage Info:
Cage Type -her cage is a full screen cage, and is 16x16x20
Lighting - we use 26w repti glo 2.0 uvb, 75a basking bulb all things living, and 50w exo terra red heat glo for night
Temperature - I do not know the exact levels of her cages temperature....I guess i need to invest in a reader!
Humidity - We live in GA so its naturally humid here, i do not have anything in her cage to regulate the humidity level other then spraying her cage through out the day, i was told having a humidifier in her cage would give her a respiratory infection.
Plants - all plants currently in her cage are artificial
Placement - her cage is currently in a corner in our room, which is pretty low traffic through most of the day. she is not as high off the floor as i would like her to be.
Location - Georgia, USA

Youre still over supplementing her. she needs plain calcium without d3 every feeding, calcium with d3 twice a month, multivitamin twice a month.

Temperature - I do not know the exact levels of her cages temperature....I guess i need to invest in a reader! find out!

you need to go to avet to get calcium injections to help get her back on track.

she does have MBD, it is not reversiable, but you can stops its progression.

It is weird, definitely look like MBD in the first pic but not so much in the second????? How could it get bad that fast in a matter of a couple days?

Ok so i just got back from the pet store i got her the 5.0 light and the only calcium supplement without d3 they had was a spray. it is zilla- calcium supplement. and on the bottle it says for use with animals with calcium deficiency give 3 drops a day. I tried to give her some but she refuses, she is having a REALLY hard time getting around.
I don't know how it happened so fast. she has always been just a little jerky when moving but i just thought it was normal. The way she is moving is almost like she doesn't know where to put her hands and feet.
I took most of the high stuff out of her cage, she cant climb up it and i really don't want her to fall down.

She has MBD, I think she needs a vet for sure as it's come on so quickly. If you can get her to hiss at you and sneak a drop of calcium in that would work. Be careful when giving a Cham liquid (only give one drop at a time it is easy to choke them)
If she won't hiss than the best thing to do is very gently but constantly pull on the skin under her chin until she opens her mouth. She needs Calcium with no d3.
An overdose of d3 can cause MBD symptoms too, so I recommend you don't give any of that until at least you've seen a vet. Is there a non-reptile specialist who can see her and give calcium injections as that would be best?
Also I always recommend this great care sheet in case you haven't seen it yet - https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/chameleonsinmyhouse/395-veiled-chameleon-care-sheet.html

it really didn't happen that fast. It is a gradual decline. MBD does not happen over night but I will admit those pictures taken days apart...the legs look completely bowed(mbd) in comparison to the other pic. But if you look closely the elbow joint in the outside pic...it is way too low

I will have to call the local vets tomorrow to see if they will do the shot. there isn't a local reptile vet for a while.
Also i didn't even know until recently that the D3 in the calcium supplement should only be given to her twice a month!
I think i made it worse :( between only getting calcium once every 2-3 days and having D3 in it every time!
:'( i could cry!!!

what kind of calcium with d3 were you using?. Some brands contain higher concentrations of it than others, therefore you might not have overdosed too much.

She isn't really wanting to eat, but i did get 3 good drops of the calcium supplement in her this morning. Had to take her outside to get her to open her mouth up at all.
Would it be bad if i gave her more then 3 drops a day?
and any suggestions on getting her to eat?
