LOL! yes and their breath smells like crickets!:D:D

I have also seen mine yawn. Does this mean he isn't getting enough sleep?
Should my chameleon be getting more beauty sleep?

Yawning is more of a reflex action intended to aid in awakening and obtaining more air. It also helps stretch out muscles in the mouth and neck region. Yawning does not mean a critter is sleepy per say, only that it is trying to stay awake and alert. So long as your chameleon has about 12 hours with the lights off, and no other distractions during downtime, it will sleep well enough. If a single small light comes on, your chameleon will open its eyes and look around rather blearily to see what the deal is.

If you see your chameleon gaping most likely it is a defensive behavior or is a heat exchange strategy (too hot). It could be stretching its skin during a shed. Depending on the details it could even be related to a respiratory problem.

My chameleon is always randomly yawning. The best thing is that sometimes after eating a locust or two he opens his mouth real wide and does a little hiccupping movement.

I call them 'bugburps'.

They Sure Do!!

Yep, chameleons do yawn. I captured Lily mid yawn when she was trying to bust out of her shed under her chin!! Aww! :D
