my auto mister is spraying cool room temp water at my cam....he runs and hides then comes out again soon after....today the mister went off at 12 to 12:05 when i came home at three he had eaten all his crix, but was under the blant stand.....sheilded from light, and in his agriest dark green shade ever, also his eyes were pure black....what should i do...im getting and inline heater soon.....i tried hot water in the dripper...and he liked that so i think ill do it again in two hours........any advise???

he was in an enclosed room...no pest like cats

Hmmm... is the spray coming out of your mister too harsh? Can you make the spray lighter? Can you maybe direct the spray a bit so that it doesn't cover the whole cage and your chameleon can take shelter somewhere else? Do you have enough plants in your enclosure so your chameleon can go somewhere else to hide under a leaf or something to get away from the spray?

It's not unusual for a chameleon to take shelter or try to get away from spraying water... but it sounds like your chameleon is REALLY stressed out by the misting if he's turning black.

My cham seems to really prefer warm water when misting or drinking from the dripper. I know it all cools some on contact with the air, but starting with warmer water seems preferable to my little guy.

I do not know much about this, but as a suggestion, maybe a fishtank heater in the mister reservoir bucket would work? I do not know if this practical or sound advice but it would work as long as the heater is kept submerged, and might be a temporary option.

Good Luck

its from mist king so its like water vapor practicly....im geting an inline heater soon....i have a large umbrella plant, pothos, and ficus...in a 2 by 2 by 4 cage...do yeah....but what should i do untile the heater is setup?????

I'm doing the same with my chams right now room temp water until I figure out what I'm going to do about heating but neither has a problem.

lucky...mine freks so this weekend ill buy one and mist lightly and use hot drippers....lol i wish cams werent so high maintness...lol

although...i got to thinks and u know who if the water runs through the inline heater then through the tubing it gets cooler...well what if you put the heater like 6 inches away from the nozzels.....then like velcro it to the alliuminuim fram of the cage......anyone try this...im sure it would save a degree or two of warmth???
