Problems with hornworm delivery?

Recently recieved my order of hornworms from my regular supplier and most were dead. They fell down between the food and the side of the container. This smashed them into the food and killed them. Wondering if anyone else has had similiar problems.

you may want to contact the company you bought them from and see if they will send you some replacements... its not your fault they died and got smashed.

I did, and they are going to give me a free order of hornworms with my next order. They were very good with no problems, it just makes me wonder if this is a common problem. This was the first time I ordered them so small. I usually order worms that are about 11/2" long. They get so big so quick I thought I'd try and get smaller ones.

if you tell them what happened, i'm pretty sure they will replace them for you.
after all it's not your fault that all of them died.
Actually, i have the same problem with the silkies. But, they are very professional about it.
Sometime small worms tend to get adventurous and get into a crack in between of the food.

Not too shabby! I don't have them shipped often enough to worry about those problems. I usually get all my bugs at reptiles shows or the petstores near my house. They are a little cheaper that way. But if i do order I get a little of everything. and it usually turns out fine. At least they are willing to replace, and that is good customer service for sure.

There's not that many people doing hornworms out there
I've met the people here that supply and I can tell you that they're concerned
with keeping people happy over anything damaged by the shipper.
The feed is poured in and is usually quite secure, it takes a bit dislodge it.

next time, I suggest that you open up the box and inspect asap.
They're LIVE cargo
and should have been better handled by UPS (or ?)
Start a claim and contact the supplier right then if it's not right.

That way the shippers are encouraged to get their act together
by paying for the damage.

I've get a half dozen cups at a time without any problems
The problem seems to be with some bozo THROWING the live cargo box around the backroom at 3 am.

I think that's exactly what happened. I was at home when FedX delivered, I heard him drop the box by the door, ring the bell and leave. They were upside down allowing the worms to fall between the feed and the side of the container. I usually order them larger than I did this time and has never been a problem. The small ones were 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.

this literally happened to me too. the worst thing about it was that the package contained a baby veiled chameleon.
the lazy idiot got creative and decided to just throw the package in front of my door at 10.30 am from his car.
luckily, I am in the house waiting for it. and the "thud" sound alarmed me. Also, the kammers put soft damp paper towel all around and put a really tight foam to hold all the package in place.

I gave that mailman a piece of my mind and complain to the Fedex
yes, Fedex.
