Purple Tongue

I fed my Veiled Chameleon(jalapeno) earlier to day, and while i was watching him extend his tongue it seemed slugish and swollon
he has perfect aim his tongue just looks a dark shade of purple and slow has anyone's chameleon had this problem?

maybe it got bruised from trying to catch something. their tongues are somewhat fragile and stick to anything. injury is common if it sticks to anything but the bug.

If in fact his tounge is bruised or swollen you should switch to cup feed him for a couple days or weeks just to ensure that no more damage will be done. If it keeps turning darker and he uses it less and less it will fall off...just keep a sharpe eye

And yes i have had my Veiled over extend his tounge trying to get a cricket...i noticed his aim was off for a few days i just cup fed him and prayed it would heal and it did
