Pygmy Egg-Laying

My female pygmy who's gravid has been in what I can assume is chameleon labor for a little while and I was wondering how long it takes for the eggs to be laid.

I just let the pygmys do their thing ... never pay much attention or even really know when eggs have been laid.
They know what to do.
Sorry I don't know the answer to your question ... I posted to (hopefully) alleviate any worry you may have about her.

Yeah I would like to know too, as i seem to have a gravid female at the minute, she isnt eating anything, but is drinking. she just seems to sit on a little branch or hide in the foliage all day. how will I know when she is ready to lay her eggs?

Also, should I take out any crickets that are still in the tank once she has decided to lay?

what is your pygmy doing to warrant you thinking she is in labour?

My little girl laid at least 3 eggs without me noticing a change in her behaviour. There were physical signs obviously which makes me think it was a couple of weeks ago. She was plump when she arrived and 3 or 4 days later she was slightly slimmer. I thought she had just settled in and didnt feel the need to puff up anymore.

I found them today during our first tidy up of the enclosure (i havent got many springtails in there yet)

They were completely hidden, not a single sign that they were there.

So i say let them be, unless you see her distressed :D

Ah Congrats Gary! so at least now you know she has laid some! mine is still quite plump and havnt really noticed a change in her so hopefully she hasnt lay them anywhere yet. i hope not as iv put a few sheets of live moss down now in the tank so hopefully iv not buried any! im sure i havnt tho, she hasnt been on the ground much at all so dont think shes done it yet. i reckon in the next week though! keep u informed.

did yours bury them? if so did she pick a corner?
:D

Thanks mate :D

Yeah, she dug down about 2cm in the corner where she usually ambushes her crickets! Looks like she has a favourite corner of the enclosure.

I have to do the math now to figure out when they were laid and roughly how long until they hatch. This is fun :D

The thing is, she looks huge again... like rounder then before if that is possible?! Its only been 2 weeks, surely she cant have another batch baking already?!

hmm, well my big one looks like that! and the other one that i have 2 only she is smaller than the other one but the shape is relatively the same!

fingers crossed! wished there was some way i could tell when it is that they will decide to lay.
