Question about my new Cham Leo.

Hello,

I have a question about the location of my Cham. We have him set up in our front family room, and we have him on a cycle were we turn off his lights at night before we go to sleep for the evening. However, across the living room we have to leave a small reading lamp on so that people can see when they have to go to the kitchen. Do you think having a small light source across the room from him is a problem? I had read somewhere that having a light source in the room might keep him awake, is that true?

Thanks :D

it depends on your chameleon. My one guy can sleep right next to my computer very soundly with the light from the computer or my desk lamp on. My other cham would sit there wide awake with the littlest amount of light. You can always cover the cage with a sheet or blanket. That is what I do.

i also have my cham in the living room with lights on during the night, i was also worried about the light i made a kind of curtain around his cage for the night time. he sleeps at the top at the cage and my curtain blocks out most of the light on the top half without messing with the air flow at night, the only problem i have is waking up on the weekends to removed it because he loves looking outside..
hopes this helps

lately my veiled will find a dark spot in his cage and go to sleep b4 his timer turns the lights off.
so i guess it's gonna vary from individual to individual :D
and that is part of what we love about them

Thanks guys for the advice. I was thinking about putting up a blanket or something over his cage, but when I went and checked on him last night he was asleep before we even turned off his lights. I'll just keep an eye on him and then if it seems like its bothering him then I can just put up a curtain for him to block out the light. :)
