Question on egg laying

Ok, so I have a 3 month old veiled chameleon, and I know they start laying eggs around 5-6 months old...I'm curious what type of substrate I need and what type of container, I've heard of sand and soil. and also just a glad ware container works. Just trying to get different opinions. Also, what is more important, how deep the container is or how wide? Thank you!
