Quick cricket container question

I'm putting together bins for crickets and roaches, what do you guys use for screen to allow ventilation? The crickets seem to chew through everything. I'm using plastic tubs btw.

Also do crickets need lighting or heat? Some seem to use it, others don't. I've been keeping mine in a cabinet under my cham cage in the dark, not sure how big an issue this was.

For my dubias I cut a square on the lid about 4 inches wide and 6 long and covered both sides with plastic screen mesh from home Depot. I used a hot glue gun to attach it. I also rubbed Vaseline on the lip of the Rubbermaid bin in case they reach, they'll just slip off. Not one has ever gotten out bUT the egg crates don't reach the top either. About 3 inch clearance. For crickets I've heard the same method but using a triple aluminum layer and a tall container.
Oh and sometimes I use a USB fan blowing out when I see things getting humid or too hot.

The metal window screening works fine for crickets with lots of silicone caulking to hold it in place. For my dubias I just drill a grid of small holes in the top of the container. They don't like light anyway.

Okay great thanks, i got some aluminum insect screen that i doubled up on for crickets. Also going to try and keep them from reaching it. Do crickets need light and/or heat?

Also quick dubia question, i have a 'heavy duty' rubbermaid i'm making into my dubia container. Would it be dangerous to put a heat pad under it? If so what would you suggest for their heat source?
