Quick dumb question ?

Of course, there are some out there actually. Any panther can be crossed with each other. Sometimes its frowned upon, but it can happen to all panthers.

Yep, any of the panther locales can be crossed with each other.
Both my panthers right now are mixes, one is a Nosy Faly x Ambanja and the other is Nosy Be x Ambanja x Ambilobe. So it certainly is possible to mix them together!

^^^ Two of the best looking panthers I have seen!:) Locales can be crossed, and they often produce really nice chams but like the first poster said it is frowned upon.

Thank you!
Yea, to explain a bit why, it's frowned upon by many people because it has a couple risks associated with it. Since females are impossible to identify as one locale or another to begin with, if you manage to sell them, you run the risk of people mislabeling their chameleon down the line somewhere. So someone who thinks they are buying a pure female for their breeding program finds out about a year or two later when the babies are showing colors that their female is anything but what they thought.

Also, thanks to genetics, not all offspring are going to look like a mix of both parents. You'll have sons that look like parent A and others that look like parent B, and may even look pretty pure. So you run the risk of these being mislabeled somewhere down the line and doing the same thing. I think it's Sandrachameleon that has very beautiful Ambilobe x Nosy be crosses and some look completely Ambilobe, especially to someone who may not be super experienced at telling the locales apart.

This is made worse by the fact that crosses usually sell for less. So say you sell a cross for $150, and someone decides to sell them again for twice as much as suddenly "pure" panthers. So you can't help the dishonesty of others.

So there are things to consider. You have to be a very honest vendor if you find yourself selling crossed babies. You can't help with others do with the animals once you sell them, but people are worried about that. Just because you sell them properly advertised doesn't mean that someone else will sell them for something else.
