Hello everyone, i have a female 7 month old panther that is turning receptive colors and searching for bin.. i cant see her holding any eggs yet..was wondering if i should breed her now with my male? or is she to young still and i should wait and let her have an infurtal clutch? and if i do want to breed how long do i have to do so.... thanks for any input:D

I personally would wait til she is at least a year old.

this ensures shes big enough to handle egg making/laying.

what do yo umean how long do you have to do so? like how long will she live?

I think most people dont breed past the age of 3 years.

what are her basking temps? and how much do yo ufeed her?

Well i just weighed her this morning she is 80.00 grams exactly... ive heard you want to wait intel atleast 60grams..

ive been feeding twice a day sinces ive had her because she always has been a great eater then i cut it back to once a day for awhile... then i for the last month or so its been two times a day and she eats everything i put in never leaves one.... hungry girl all the time;0 and as her baskin temps are around 90s thanks for the input:)

youre setting her up for a HUGE clutch.. which is not healthy for her.

letting a female eat as much as they want, as well as basking that high of a temp.. creates large clutches.

how much do you feed her when you say you feed her daily or twice a day?

also pictures always help out :)

well about 10 crickets maybe at a time if that... and i bask her outside and when i say 90s... meaning right under the light so id even say alil lower than that but shes majority of the time is ouside with half shade half sun...

I would wait until she is a year old. I have a 6 month old ch female that has went receptive just by seeing one of my adult males why i was cleaning his cage. she is 70 grams and I have ran her temps lower and less feed but she is bigger then her mom my wc Nosy faly female medusa .... I know she could handle the eggs but it just i think that is to young to breed. Some times I have just noticed you get really good and fast growing females out of clutches. The rest of her sisters are about half the size. JMO.

thats too many crickets.

the more food, teh higher temps=more eggs.

you dont want a large clutch.. which shortens her life span.

i feed my females 4-5 crickets every other day and keep basking temps no more than 84.

my girl just laid 38 eggs. and i still want to reduce it further.

This is not uncommon at all for females to become receptive at this age due to size, sight of a male or season... It's mother nature doing its job. The main reason I would wait is just to make her bones stronger and healthier for fertile clutches make sure and dust her feeders with plain calcium at ever feeding lightly ..... I would cut down on your feeding like 8 to 10 feeders ever other day for a while..... But also it is not just feeding them that makes them that big like I said in my last post I have a 6 month old female that is only 10 grams lighter then yours and she has been on a adult female feeder schedule for the past 2 months because she is growing so fast. But that did not slow her down in growth at all...

It must be that cali-sunshine!! her sisters are 45-50 grams.Good to see one of Franklins girls will be passing on his genes

I learned vital info , thanks . This is my 1rst chameleon ( veiled female abut 6 months old , i have had her 3 months ) . I have been feeding her too much . I am attaching a picture & will weigh her . Should i reduce her feeding now ? I have been feeding crickets ( cave crickets & store bought ) 10 or so a day ( small to mediums ) & just started feeding her dubias . I don't have a clue to how much i should feed her . I have seen her digging to get out of the 12"X12"x18" Exto enclosure . I have had some info PMed ( thanks :) ) & read alot , but the size difference of the feeders makes the quanity vague .
