Record Midwest heat today.

My chams are currently outside. I'm in the St. Louis area and we're supposed to hit 100 today and tomorrow. I have the cages set so that they're in the shade the majority of the afternoon. I really hate to bring them inside because it's drier and colder in the house, but I don't want them getting overheated outside either. Both chams have a lot of plants to hide in as well. Does anyone have an opinion on leaving them out? I have their rain bags set up, so they have access to lots of water.

My Cham sits outside in a cage he loves it. Now and then I will pour water over him and the cage to make sure he is drinking and keeping cool. I personally think it’s very good for them to take in natural light. I don’t see any problem with having them outside as long as the weather is hot enough and you keep making sure to pour water to keep the humidity up.

Id keep an eye on them. Might even want to spend 20 bucks on a garden hose mister.

Madagascar is normally highs of 80 tops, with the highest areas at 32c(89f) during peak summer.

So you only have a 3-4 hour window between 2-7pm that you have to check to make sure they dont turn white/pink.
I live in England so don’t need to worry about him being too hot as I only get him out in the garden for a few hours when the weather is good

I know for places in America it is different

The question isn't whether or not the sun is good. It's about the heat. Often many places in the US get too hot for some chams. I would say give lots of shade and frequent misting to cool off.

100˚F = almost 38˚C if that helps.
@Action Jackson keeps many of his montaines outdoors when it gets hot he sprays down his cages as a precaution. Hopefully he can give you the details. I bring mine in when it's hot.

Yeah, I'm in the Midwest too and I've gotten tons of notifications warning of the extreme heat today. If it's dangerous for humans, I'd play it safe with the chams this weekend
