Red Spot on Mouth

Hello everyone,
We have had Lewis (baby Panther Cham) a few weeks now and so far he has been doing great. He eats good, sleeps, and drinks really well. However, about a day or so ago I noticed this red spot on the right side of his mouth. It is not in the corner though with strikes me as odd. After everything I have researched I was think mouth rot but normally that happens in the corners of the mouth. I'm really not sure whats going on. Everything was going so well and he is adjusting to his home nicely.

Any thoughts?

I wonder if perhaps he rubbed it on something? Sort of like a scrape. It looks rather raw, but its a bit blurry in the pictures so I can't see it entirely clear. It doesn't look like mouth rot to me because it isn't all gunky and infected, but I haven't seen the early stages of it before. I don't think that I am AT ALL qualified enough to answer your question, but I do know that an experienced person here can if you fill out the chameleon information sheet that is on the How to ask for help thread. Hope he gets better!!

Thank you. After all the research I've done it doesn't look like mouth rot to me either. I'm going to take a q-tip with some water and see if when I gently rub it if it removes whatever is there or if it leaves the q-tip bloody. It looks more to me like a cut but I have no idea what could have caused it. We do have a bunch of dowels connected by thick zip ties. I'm wondering if he hit his face on it..he usually isn't near them though. He loves hiding in the plants.
