Remote humidity and temp monitoring with Ambient Weather WS-0800-IP

I just picked up a Ambient Weather WS-0800-IP internet weather station to monitor my cage, and I'm pretty pleased with the result. For less than $100 I've got graphs on a web browser with about 5 minute resolution as well as real time remote monitoring on my phone or whatever. The "hub" needs to be wired with cat 5 ethernet to a router/switch, but it wasn't difficult to set up. It can be up to 100' from the sensors.

The primary market for these devices is to set up a "Personal Weather Station" for the Weather Underground (internet data sharing service) but this is via http://ambientweather.net and works out fine for a cage in place of "outside" weather. (I have no affiliation, sharing this information in good faith, no emoluments).

The kit I got has two AA battery (not included) powered sensor packs with displays, about the size of a pack of gum, one for "outside" that gets temp and humidity, the other for indoors to get temp, humidity, and pressure. I set that up just outside the cage for ambient conditions. The hygrometer is not particularly accurate according to spec (+/- 5%) but for managing trends and trying to get a better idea of how to run my misting system, the graphs from the web site are perfect. Here's a screen grab (temps are much lower where sensor sits than where my chameleon basks). screencapture-dashboard-ambientweather-net-dashboard-1519510445007.png
