Most other species owners like the bug burger for their feeders, but what about bug burger that is gonna be fed to montanes? Also anyone have experience with the repashy gutload product? Just looking to give my feeders some more variety that is easy to make.

sorry i dont have any experience with his products. when i run low on supplements i am going to try his cal plus.

I have a lot of reps to feed..the bug burger is easy..and clean!!! So far the Repashy products are great...I'm just being careful with my Jackson's..

My Jackson's live outside. As a Montane species I don't want to over supplement them. The Repashy products r new and I haven't been using them long enuf on my Jackson's to know what's a great system. They don't have a product marked, "For Montane Species living outside". So I use the Calcium with no D with crickets and with a mutivit 1 a wk.. So I'm just a little cautious. The CalPlus and the Reptivite both have D3..yes in small amts meant to be used at every feeding. Mine are outside and a sensitive species so that doesn't actually apply ...

Do you use the repashy bug burger or the gutload?

I tell myself I'm going to add some of the Repashy gutload to my superworms but have not as yet. I think that would work great.

Elgato,

In your pm where you asked me a similar question, I thought you were referring to using Calcium Plus for montane species, not Bug Burger.

I was asked by you and others, abut Calcium Plus For montane species, so I will repeat myself here as far as my recommendation.

As per the extensive testing by the Kammers, Calcium Plus has proven to work very well for Panther Chameleons when used at every single feeding with no other supplementation.

This does NOT mean that it will work equally well for montane species IF indeed they are more sensitive to supplementation than species like Panthers and Veileds.

Only long term feedback from folks like you here will give us the answer.

Since the nutritional levels of the Calcium plus are balanced to the Insect, I DO believe that these balanced nutrients are good for ALL insectivores.

We need to differentiate between ratios and levels..... So what I am saying is that I believe the RATIOS are good for all species. It is the LEVELS, that we don't know about..... meaning if there are species with lower requirements, only the AMOUNT of calcium plus must be adjusted.

Since the vitamins are balanced to the minerals, It is my opinion that simply reducing the frequency of supplementation..... to say every other feeding, or every third feeding..... or less, will be what ends up working out best. In between these feedings, either no other supplementation, or possibly a calcium only supplement should suffice. I would personally recommend dialing it in without any other supplementation.

As far as Bug Burger, I would have to say that it should be good for ALL species as is. It is simply a highly nutritious insect diet that is well balanced. The vitamin levels in the Bug Burger are very low in comparison to products like Calcium Plus. Buildup of any fat soluble vitamins in the insects to a level that could be considered high, or even moderate is in my opinion, impossible.

The product is also low in protein to avoid any potential buildup of uric acid when used for feeding roaches..... (see my article on gout in my signature link)

To be honest, I don't think many chameleon owners have even tried bug burger yet.

Just bought a pouch of it today. The bugs LOVE it lol I'll be using it till it runs out and rotating it with my other gutloads. I didn't know that this stuff was pretty new to the cham world. I'm a still noob with chams :/ Thanks for your reply Allen
