Repti glo 10.0 ok?

Nope. The 5.0 and 10.0 are simply designation as to the amount of UVB the bulb produces. Both have been used successfully on many chams. I choose the 10.0 because it is stronger, some keepers wll say that it is too strong. It is way less output than the sun however, and I have had no problems with it.

The 10.0 bulb says dessert terrarium, does that matter?

People have opinions of yes or no. mind you unlike dessert reptiles your enclosure is more than likely 48" tall and will have shady spots. the 10.0 should be fine, and realistically no bulb comes close to what real sun puts out. plus ontop screen can filter out as much as 50% uvb so should be safe

just remember those bulbs lose significant amounts of UVB after approx. 6-8months or so and will need replacing

I believe the Repti Glo is the compact version. I would highly recommend looking into a tube bulb over the compact bulbs.

good point, always just assume people are talking linear bulbs. OP make sure you have the tube lights

I suggest the linear bulbs as well, just because you get so much more coverage with them. Compacts aren't as bad as they say. A few years back there was an issue with them, but the manufactures have since fixed this. Linear will always be suggested over compact. Some are misinformed on the reason why. They think they are dangerous, but they are not. They were at one point, but like I said, that has been fixed. Others suggest linear for the correct reason. It significantly covers more area then a compact. If your chameleon is always inside, and never able to go outdoors, I would definitely invest in better lighting then the compact. If that is in fact what you purchased. HOWEVER compact is better then nothing :)

Here's a pic of the box

From my experience with aquatic turtles the 10.0 could be used so long as it wasn't a CFL. Putting 10.0 CFL in a mini dome can focus way to much into one spot. But that's not what you have so it sounds like you're G2G. :)
