Rhododendron bush

I have a large rhododendron bush outside, that I would like to let Echo explore, but I'm not sure if it's leaves, buds, or flowers are safe. He likes to taste everything! This is, unfortunately, the only plant/bush i can put him into for some natural sunlight. The only other thing are some 50+ ft tall trees.

Rhododendron is toxic. How toxic, is hard to say. Deer will still eat it, so it likely is a situation of potential stomach upset, rather than deadly. It would be far less of a concern once the blooms are finished dropping, as the leaves are too coarse to be ingested easily in large amounts.

Rhododendron grows wild here and growing up outside as a kid, we were told to never use the branches as fire wood.. I have thought about using the branches for climbing areas but don't want to risk it. The blooms are incredibly vivid though!

hmm. ok. I will try to buy him a potted plant or small tree or something, for outdoor basking. thanks!

Ya! They do love hibiscus! Echo LOVED to eat the flower buds, too! I only ever got 2 flowers on the thing, and that was last summer when I pulled it out and put it on the back porch to try to recover. Over the winter, he butchered it!
