RO Water Remineralization

I have been using a new RO Water system for the last month. The system I purchased came with a remineralization cartridge but I never installed it. Recently I saw some information indicating that RO Water is not appropriate for chameleons without remineralization. Should I install the remineralization cartridge?

The only need for RO/distilled water is if you have a misting or fogging system. You will get everything covered with white powder etc, and clog up your system (and need to bacteria clean) if you dont use distilled etc.

The remineralization cartridge is a "flavor enhancer". Its not for making the water more nutritious. It just puts the calcium carbonate back into the water that the RO and water softener just took out... Which will introduce all the above problems again.

Thank you! That is what I had thought and why I did not put it in the system. I appreciate the input. I will leave it out for now. I do use the RO Water for my mist king and fogger as well as the in room humidifier.

We have a remineralizing part of our drinking water RO/DI system. Even with that the TDS is still super low. They seem to be mostly for flavor. I’m not sure how much it would actually impact clogging misters or nutrients. I guess it would depend how much it is adding to the water.

I wouldn’t worry much, plenty of us have used nothing, but RO or distilled (which rainwater is supposed to be pretty close to) and have had long lived chameleons without issue. Most minerals are likely picked up from food/dusts/surfaces they lick water droplets off of.
