Road trips and Chams, tips?

I’m planning on making a 14 hour drive from Georgia back to my home in Texas, I’m thinking maybe get a dark Tupperware container. To limit visual stress, but i’d Drill decent size holes for ventilation and to install my hygrometer/thermometer. Adding limbs and maybe his pathos. With a towel on the bottom. And i’ll Hand mist him. How would you do it?

I’d really wouldn’t do that because it will be much too stressful for the cham. But I’d do everything you said and have towels or cloth at the bottom just in case you hit a bump to keep him safe if you must do this. Make sure you have plenty of ventilation.

What wouldn’t you do again? I apologize I’m not clear on what you mean.

I’m plannin on cutting the top of this lid to make it an almost full screen top travel enclosure, this is what I have tell me what you think.

I wish there was another way to do this, but I can’t ship him. So he’s just gonna have to make the drive, should I keep him in the dark or add some lighting? My truck has wall outlet plugs so I could add his uvb light to give a little warmth and also some light.

And i’d Cut a majority of the lid off and add screen so it would be a full screen top for ventilation.

I mean he was shipped to me in a small plastic container with just paper towels, from the time he was packaged up, taken to the post office, put on a plane and delivered to my door at the age of 3months old he was inside of that packaging for 12+ hours. So I figure a very healthy 8 month old, put inside a well furnished with live plants, large visually blocking container he should be just fine. There will be a considerable amount of stress but I believe with the way that I’m going with it it won’t be enough stress to cause him to perish.

Looks good I’d just put paper towels in there. If it’s really necessary then it’s fine. Just try your best not to bump around too much and if you can put the lights one that’s a plus but remember that will get pretty hot in there

I’m planning on sticking a rubber Mat down at the bottom so the plants will not slide around, plus I may even Hotwire a fan to come on every 30 minutes to keep the air moving and so it won’t get too warm. The UVB fixture at 3 inches puts off about 89 degrees. I’m gonna have it proped up so that the space between the top of the enclosure and the bulb is at about 5-6 inches so that he will have a temp of about 78-84 in there. I’m gonna do some testing and see what I need. I don’t leave for another 3 days.

Gonna add hygrometer/thermometer, a few wooden dowel branches on the inside and see if I can’t make this a decent little travel hut.

So this works good, right under the light for 35 minutes was 85, the middle of the enclosure is 75 and the bottom is 68.

I have double sided tape on the bottom of the pots and also put a no slip mat in there to ensure that wouldn’t happen.

I would glue those plant containers down and stuff in a bunch of paper towels at the bottom better safe then sorry should be good after that

I think I'd add some crushed up newspaper or something in around the pots to be on the safe side.

You don’t want him to be sitting on sticks that are moving also could get pinched up or something if he ends up rolling around on them

The sticks are hot glued to the side of the tub at one end and shoved inside of the soil at the other end. I’ve done a test by shaking the hell out of the tub and everything seems to stay in place quite well. Few more safety precautions and I think we’re ready to roll.

Oh and btw I’m not planning on standing the tub upright vertically, for the sake of having more stability it’s gonna ride just like it is in my back seat with the seat belt on to ensure the safest of travels.

Ok awesome I didn’t see that I would still before putting him in shove in maybe 1/4 to 1/2 of a roll of paper towels at least to were bunched up it would be 2-3 pieces thick at any spot on the bottom it will insulate and provide protection from falls or bumps

KP made the trip to Texas, and made it here safe and sound. He spent about 29 hours inside of his makeshift road enclosure considering he was sleeping when I got home. So I set everything up and left him be in there, then put him in his enclosure in the morning. He was very active, very relaxed, but obviously a little timid. I tried feeding him, I put about 11 crickets in there just for an extra snack, I believe he ate maybe 2. So we have a little problem there but I’m sure he will adjust. Thanks all for the advice
