I am currently setting everything up in order to get ready for my chameleon. I have done extensive research, but have a couple of questions that I could not find the answer to; I am hoping you can help. For a juvenile chameleon, what should my initial purchase of food include? Quantitiesper day, type of food, etc.? I have read that they will need food several times per day and will develop eating habits as they go, but I am not clear on the best way to get started. Where should I purchase my food? Any recommendations? Lastly, what is the maximum number of crickets I should keep at a given time without risking the crickets health?

Thanks for the respnse, I appreciate it

It depends on the species and age. You can usually keep 1000 cricks in 20 gallons? Maybe it was ten gallons... I'm not sure, but you have to have lots of food and hiding places (eggcrate.) otherwise they start eating eachother.

The search button will be your best friend! :)

Welcome and glad you are researching prior to getting your bundle of joy.

On crickets, you can house a good number but do you want too? The crickets will grow a lot faster than your chameleon. You need to get size appropriate crickets and if you are only feeding one chameleon you will not need or use 1000 crickets at a time.

Provide a bit more information about what type and size of chameleon you are getting for us to provide more directed useful help.

You also need to do some reading on gutloading crickets so you will be ready to care for the chameleon & his food.
