Rudis Outdoors!

So, I know I've been quite delinquent and ReptiMom is probably about ready to chew me out but here are some pics finally of the Rudis' I obtained last week. It was a nice day outside here in Michigan so I took my 1 year old, Cameron, outside to bask for the first time. She really seemed to enjoy climbing my lilac out front!

The two three-month old babies, Carmen Chameleon and Carmen Sandiego, are super cute. It's been a battle with Carmen because he got a gigantic bump on his head in transit from Georgia up to Michigan. I haven't been able to get a good picture of it because my camera doesn't like the lighting and I feel bad using the flash on their little eyes. He's been slowly getting better: eating fruit flies and drinking from an eyedropper (he'll drink off the leaves also but I like to ensure he's drinking). Carmen Sandiego is truely daddy's little girl. She comes right up to the cage opening and will climb up on me whenever I open the doors. Last night she fell asleep on my finger (see picture). I had to wake her up to put her back in her cage because my finger was getting too tired trying to stay straight and stiff like that!

Oh, one other thing..... Can anyone verify that Cameron appears to be gravid? I'm not really sure if you can tell by the coloring or not...... Thanks!

Cute little buggers. How big do they get? Is the one on your finger the who you think is gravid? They look so small.

No, the one sleeping on my finger is only three months old right now. I'm wondering if the one in the first two pictures is gravid. She's full grown, about 6-7 inches including tail. The males get a lil bigger but in general Rudis don't get very big.

Oh ok. I thought all three pics were of the same cham. Can you take a picture with the baby and adult side by side? I just want to see a comparison of how big they get.

I couldn't get the adult out this morning. She went straight down inside the umbrella plant in her cage so I decided to leave her be. Here's a picture of her from yesterday on my shoulder. That might help put her size in perspective for you.

The picture of the two babies is the best I could get of Carmen Chameleon's bump on his head. It doesn't look good :(

Oh thanks for the pics. They're cute and they don't seem too small like the pygs. I like how pygs look and all but I would like something that's a little big as well.

You name you son Cameron, one cham Carmen, and the other Cham Carmen...lol:D

Hehe, my name is Ken and my dad's name is Ken and my mom's brother name is Ken...... Wife makes fun of us all the time. And just to clarify, the chams names are: Carmen Chameleon, Carmen Sandiego, and Cameron.

Ken, I was sooo excited when I saw your thread. I am happy to see the babies again. Poor Carmen (he kind of looks like the elephant man), but I am glad he is hanging in there. He's a tough little bugger. Cameron looks wonderful. I can tell she is loving it outside. I had her outside alot here in Georgia. I'm am pretty sure she is gravid!! Keep up the good work, and keep the pictures coming!

that happens offtin with rudis i have lost an adult and a baby months apart could someone please tell us what this is cause it kills them fast first day its gland in the corner of their mouth swells then second day the eye becomes overly swollen like in your pic third day is death ive had this happen twice both died the day of the vet appointment

(

Last night, before I went to bed, I did what I always do... hand feed the babies and mist everyone. I found Carmen San Diego on her side, dead. I'm so upset. She was doing wonderful and just didn't make it. I never expected her to die. I expected Carmen Chameleon to die because of his huge buldge on his head, but he seems to be doing the same. He's blind in one eye and cannot hunt on his own. I hand feed him phoenix worms and drops of water. I don't expect him to make it too much longer. Cameron is doing great and is eating and drinking on her own. She appears to love her new enclosure and loves going outside to sunbathe.
