Rudis's diamonds on back turn black.

I notice every once in a while, The diamonds on my rudis's back turn black.I've heard that that is a bad sign, Is it? im not sure.

My female does this in the sun....I believe it is to absorb the heat (she only gets a few hours of sunshine in the morning). Is the cham basking at the time?

Yeah sometimes when he's basking, But even when he crawls down to the cool spots he still has the black spots for a while.
