Rudis's whole body turns black

Chameleons naturally darken when they are basking, the dark color helps them to absorb the heat. I wouldn't worry!
What was the temp in your basking spot again?

I think its too hot for him, It gets to about 88-90, And with the basking light off it stays at about 78-80.Damn looks like i dont even need a basking light.

your temperatures do seem too hot but turning dark usually is caused by attempting to absorb more heat. most reptiles do this

be sure your temperatures are accurate and that your rudis has a cooler area to hang out when needed low 70's.

opening the mouth is more often found when temps are too high
