sadly, I lost a female thicktail gecko (N.milii) a few days ago. I got distracted while cleaning and left the door slightly ajar.
We retreived the male on adventure down the hallway, but after days of intense searching, I have to conclude she has gone for good.
Still leaving moist hides food & water around the house, just in case, but Im not holding my breath.
Stripped the herp room down to bare walls and carpet, but no luck, same for adjoining rooms, laid baby powder along the inner walls....nothing!
Very dissapointed at myself, I was very fond of her.
I wont be making the same mistake again. :(

Rule one of reptile Keeping: NEVER lose anything small enough to hide from you!

dont worry, i have fate it will come back out of no where. Sometimes when you look to hard it will never appear... But once your off guard its will be right in front of your face!! no joke!

As long as the windows are not open it will still be in the house somewhere!!

Thanks mate, I suppose it's possible it's been moving about to thermoregulate at night, hence my not finding it. Time will tell I guess.
cheers

They always seem to show up when u least expect it. I Have a feeling we will hear good news in the coming weeks, or a month or so. All the sudden your peripheral will close in on something moving quick while your watching T.V or just relaxing. I wish u the best of luck finding her:(

Sorry Jo......hope u do find her:(. They are just like having small children. When u think u have just enough time, they are gone!! Fast little suckers. It's just the human variety are noisy and easier to find.:p

Thanks for the well wishes Folks. Still sign of the little beastie as yet, I fear she may have found her way through a hole in a baseboard and escaped under the house.
Atleast her species occurs here, so barring predation, she ought to survive back in the wild.
