Safe Butterfly list

Hi Everyone,
My wife is currently volunteering at botanical garden, and they have live butteries there. I know that some are toxic and some are OK to feed. Does anyone know which are OK, because I couldn't find on Google. Thanks.

I have been told the the black butterflies, and white butterflies are ok. Stay away from the brightly colored ones. I was just having this conversation last saturday with someone who feeds their cham butterflies. I don't know what painted ladies look like, but if they are brightly colored then they would be an exception. I was told no swallowtails or black and white striped ones. No monarch either.

The black ones with yellow stripes you should stay away from (Zebra Longwing), but most species with earthy tones (the Painted Lady included as it is a brick/tan/brown) are safe. Monarchs are very easy to tell apart due to their size and iconic black abdomen with white speckles.

hi danny! I was just talking about you in my post. I didn't name your name. I am going to Ben Sieglers but probably tomorrow. They said they have horns and i am gonna get some crickets and supers also. If I end up going on Sunday, I will see you then but it is looking like tomorrow instead!

Hey Carol, sounds good, we always have lots of horn-worms! :)

Be sure you know what if any pesticides or fungicides the botanical garden uses! Even if it might not kill the butterflies it could still harm your cham.
