Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care? Male veiled chameleon, about a month old
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? Not often. Only had him for a week. Twice to set up cage
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders? 15-20 crickets a day. Gutloaded with romaine lettuce and sweet potato. He eats at 1pm every day.
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule? Repashy calcium without d3. Haven't picked up the multi and the calcium with d3 yet. They're dusted every time he's fed.
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking? Spray bottle, 2 heavy mistings 2 light ones. Yes he drinks.
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? Normal brown, solid fecal matter. White urate. Nope no testing
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you. None

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions? Combo 20 L x 10 W x 12 H
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule? Reptisun basking bulb forgot the brand of the UVB bulb but I believe it is 55w and the basking bulb is 60w. I do 12 on 12 off.
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps? Well it's definitely colder at the bottom. Tank is still kind of too small to have measurements for all that I think. Basking temp is mid eighties. Measured with a tank thermometer. Overnight temp is low 70s
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity? I do my best to maintain above 50% humidity at all times. Measured with a humidity cage on side of tank.
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind? Just picked them up today. Umbrella schflerra and golden pothos.
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? On my dresser. I'd say almost 4 feet high at the top. No fans no vents. Only traffic is my dad who just comes in to look at him every now and again. Aside from that just me doing my daily routine.
Location - Where are you geographically located? East Florida

My problem is that I switched out a lot of his fake plants for real ones today. Ever since, he has been scratching at sides of the tank (while still being on the plants) and I can't figure out why. I gave him stuff to climb on but think maybe I'm missing some vertical limbs. Not sure. This only just started once I changed everything around, thought at first maybe he's getting use to the new stuff but I just want to make sure. Only had him about a week now but love the little guy to pieces already hahaha. His colors are normal when he's doing this ( a light green) and I would think he's too young to be starting territorial issues. Maybe worth noting that he was outside in the real sun basking today while I was setting up plants? Any input is appreciated and please, if you see a way I can improve my tank setup I am all ears. Attached is a pic of set up with my little guy basking up top.

What you have him in is not considered a combo (screen/glass) enclosure. A combo is considered to have at least two sides screened in. Aquariums/terrariums (what you have) are NOT good for chameleons. They cause Upper Respitory Infections in chameleons and several other health concerns. The best kind of enclosures for chams are either combos or screened in enclosures.

Your gutload needs to change a lot. It needs to be more varied with better fruits and veggies and a dry gutload too. Your overall humidity is also too, low. It needs to be at least 60% and then reach 80% when misted.

Other than that everything looks good for now. Except the enclosure size, with a chameleon as old as your little one I would do 18x18x36 inches. It could be why he's so upset, they don't like small enclosures.

Welcome to the site, this is all easily fixed so don't worry ^^

Well the first issue is there shouldn't be glass to scratch at. Your setup is not designed for a chameleon. Chameleons should be in screened enclosures that are tall vertically not horizontal. That's how everyone is able to take temp measurements from basking to the bottom. Chameleons should have no substrate. He needs many horizontal branches so he can climb from top to bottom to regulate heat.

Thanks for the replies! Any enclosure brands you guys would recommend? I'll work on getting him a new one asap. Tough trying to keep the humidity up higher I work 12hr days so I fall behind but I'm going to be getting a mistking soon. I'll get him some more vertical stuff too.

That depends on the distance from the bulb to where your Cham basks. I'm currently using a 60 watt at about 6 1/2 - 7 inches away. However, your situation may be different. Set everything up and measure the temperature at the basking site. Make sure to keep all bulbs 6+ inches away.
