Hi all,

not posted much latley - not really needed too, but today i have a question.

my cham, monty, has just turned 4 months old, i had him in a glass viv (i'm in the uk) which he has been happy with, but yesterday & today he started scratching at the front, as soon as i opened the doors, he climbed onto my hand & wanted to have wounder about.

i have moved him into a flexiurm & he now seems happier - do you thihnk the reflextion from the glass was freaking him out, or he just needed the mesh to climb on?
i'm a little worried about keeping him in the felix, due to how un-stable they are & am worried about humidity & him getting too cold at night.

I believe it was both the reflection was tripping him out and he wanted more room to roam. The flex will be better for him also

Thanks - i thnk you are right - he seems a little stressed at the moment, but i think that is due to the move.

I did cover the whole of the flexi last night, as i was a little worried about a drop in temp, but it dropped down to 70, so not as bad as i thought, i have a towel covering the back at the moment as the water is going over my walls when i spray - i'll be watching the heat & humidity toaday, & if a big drop, then will have to cover the sides

Temps can and should drop a comfortable 10 degrees at night. 60 is fine. Temps can go lower with veileds, although my house NEVER gets under 65 cause I live in Florida.

Probably not the reflextion - if it was, he'd be puffed up, displaying towards it. The biggest problem iwth glass is the transparency. Chameleons will try to get through it, not recognizing that it is a barrier. This causes stress for them, and the pawing at the glass is a sign that the cage is too small, or he's not happy with the cage or its placement.

thanks for that - he is now in a flexi, in the same position, he's not pawing anymore, he is a little stress, but i put that down to the move to the new cadge - he's eating fine, so i am not overly worried.
