See Pic... is he trying to get to the water??

This is my Veiled Cham. I've had him for about 10 days. 2-3 days ago I moved his dripper to a spot where he would see it better and have better access to it... and that same day he climbed on the dripper, then had the tip of his tail in the water. I've never seen him do that. Also, as you can see in the picture the dripper is pushed all the way to the top of the screen so that he can't accidentally fall in( just an FYI)Then today he did it again, and it almost seemed like he was trying to get to the water in the tank. Which made me worry maybe he is very thirsty. Or maybe he just likes being on it. I don't know. Just wondering if anyone has a Cham that does the same thing, or if anyone thinks he would even be interested in standing water

I suspect he's trying to get closer to the heat or just exploring. Some will drink standing water it's just not safe or sanitary.

Ok thank you. I just wanted to make sure he wasn't trying to give me a sign that he is dehydrated. His urate is pure white, but I only see him drink every so often. When I go to mist his cage he actually doesn't hide, he comes out and watches the water as if he wants to drink , but is too nervous to bc I'm standing there with the sprayer

Mine just sits under the dripper very very frequently. Sometimes he will just let parts of his body get wet. He will shoot his tongue at water droplets too.

I almost never see mine drink but his urates are pearly white. They can be shy about somethings. I never see mine poop either but I know he does. lol

Mine certainly is not shy about pooping! Haha. He gets right in the front of his cage for all to see. I also noticed after posting this that he had his mouth open while on his basking spot. I know they can do this to cool down, but he did at a lower cooler point of his cage as well. Again that made me think he was thirsty. Idk if that has anything to do with it though

I wouldn't say seriously worried, only because of his healthy urate and bright coloring. I'm one of those people that probably over analyzes too much and always worry about my animals being happy. But here is his info...
Humidity stays constantly between 60-80. He has one large live plant and The rest are artificial.
Basking point is at 83-87, and ambient is aeound 75.
I hand mist his cage 3-4 times a day for about 5 min each time. I would like to do it for longer but I don't have his drain system set up yet, so if I mist for longer than that his cage floods. Here is a pic. I know his heat lamp may look close, but it's 6 " from the bulb to the rim of the lamp, and then another 5-6" from the lamp rim to his branch

Ur chameleon is trying to climb to the highest spot in ur cage,since it always try to explore the limited space in side of that cage sometimes even look for a way out.
Chameleon also is known to hide their sick appearance well especially in the eye parts in general,personally I have seen a normal eyes with orange urates or sunken eyes with totally white urates,the thing u will have to be able to tell how ur chameleon change in its appearance n daily poop drops ,and these will require lots observations in everyday or even hours of time to just sit there in front of the cages n look,things like orange urate n sunken eyes do appear from time to time,but in long term if constantly gets orange urates n sunken eyes all the time,that is the sign telling u that ur cham is not well.
Time n observations is the key to make sure ur cham is well n healthy,these also applies to any other pets.
By the way,those water drops on ur dome light (or is it on the screen??)in ur pic its a hazard concerns,u might want to look into it.

Luckily I am home during the week all day so I get to observe him a lot. I'm constantly on the couch where he can see me while I study. So I do get to see his poop every time. And the water droplets are on the screen

Looks like you are on the right track. I appreciate your concerns. Keep up your observations and his normal patterns of behavior will be come clear to you.

Your welcome,I believe any "cage" chameleons all has limited space,thats why human like us provide free range for these chams, the size of the cage is a general guidelines,but in the wild habitat Medgascar,the chameleon has more place to roam,and thats good to know about ur observations,cause it will help u to understand ur cham behavior more than me n u can imagine for sure.
