It seems there are very, very few Senegal owners on the site. Probably for the facts they are small, not wide variations in colors or patterns, and most are wild caught therefore making them harder to keep alive. Who here has one? Name, age, sex? I have a male named Karma in my care for seven months, store didn't know age and it's impossible to tell with everyone owning Panthers, nosey be's, etc.

They're quite rare generally as well. I've got a few pet shops in the area that sell mostly Veileds, some Panthers, but my Senegal came from a pet shop that closed down.

Anyway, heres a photo of my old fellow Louis.

They, and most other WC chameleons, don't have a good reputation in the UK and are rarely offered for sale in shops. I have seen them on lists for fairly low prices but they just don't seem to be one of the popular species. Also few if any UK suppliers will guarantee sexes so I don't want to risk buying two males.

Other than panthers and veileds the only species regularly or increasingly offered for sale are Jackson's, Hohnelii, Meller's and Fischer's. Hopefully these and other species will soon be offered as CB in greater numbers.

Good luck with Karma.

i think senegals are pretty cool looking, initially i was going to get a jacksons but for some reason i decided to get an ambilobe. i guess it was probably the color.

anyways. im interested to see who else has a senegal and see pics. how big do they get? what kind of temps do they like? i dont think ive heard anything about them.

My guy was big. While not the same size as the fully grown Panther at my reptile specialist, he was almost as big (I'd say 7-8"). He was less beefy though, I don't know if it was because I didn't supplement him enough though I recall doing everything well, but like in my above picture he had quite skinny "Long" limbs. Notice he has quite a skinny tail too, my young Panther has a much thicker tail. They're really well natured, friendly for chameleons for sure. The greens he showed were lovely too.

My girlfriend has a Senegal chameleon called Pyjamas. Something like 9 months old, She's really sweet, and will climb on the front of the cage when she would like to come out.

She can even turn a very nice chocolate brown when she's asleep.

Those chevrons have only appeared occasionally, usually in the sunlight.
