Well today I noticed that he is somewhat "sad". He has stayed in his basking spot all day and been very dark. I have been keeping an eye on him to see if he moves at all. I cleaned the bottom of the cage and fed him. I didnt notice him eat but I also didnt stay there to watch. I dont see all the crickets that I put in the cage so I am assuming that he did eat. Well anyways I walked past the cage and he was very dark sitting in his basking spot and he had his eyes closed like he was sleeping. I know that it is not normal for them to keep their eyes closed during the day, but could be possibly be taking a nap??

Well after I saw that he had his eyes closed, I sprayed down the cage and he opened his eyes and ran for higher branches. He has stayed in the top of the tree. I just put some more crickets in the cage and he didnt seem to care. Should I be concerned??

Chameleons and their third eye are smart they know when its winter and like alot of reptiles they shut it down until spring comes around especially if you live in a cold area of the country. But prolong eye closure is not good thing.

Actually I live in the middle of the desert. It was about 85 degrees here today. Now that I put the crickets n there is he moving around and seems to be on the hunt.. So I guess that he is ok.... And he just ate a cricket...... yum yum... Guess I was premature in my concern thanks though!
