Hi there.....It's been over 2 years since i had a chameleon, due to the death of Fiona my veiled chameleon... She became egg bound and the man i got her from didn't give me enough information on caring for them.. the vets operated on her to remove the eggs and unfortunetly she died a week after.

I got Peachy (panther) a few months ago. Do they lay eggs even if they are not pregnant. I know this sound a bit of a weird question, but i can't find any info on this!!!! I don't want to have any problems with her!!!

Many thanks

Your female will reach sexual maturity around 6 months of age. Yes they can lay even without being mated. I keep a laying bin in my cage all the time. I use organic soil and a playsand mix with a ratio of 2\3 soil 1\3 sand in a plastic trash container. I cut the bottom to be 12 inches high. I fill it up about 10 inches so the dirt doesnt spill when she digs. If you dont have an enclosure big enough to fit a laying bin in I would suggest making or buying one. Leaving it in there assures that when your female is ready she can do her thing. You want to give them privacy to when she lays or they may abandon the hole and have to start all over which is very taxing on her. Brad and someother people use paper bags to create a privacy fence so to say. Personally I have walked in on mine at feeding time and she has spotted me 2 times but she continued to lay in the same hole both times. Hope this helps and good luck.
