Silkworm Chow Storage

Does anyone ever make a lot more chow than they will need for the month and freeze it? I just ordered powdered chow from coastal and I'm thinking about just cooking it all and freezing the rest like I do my other gut loads.

I just make smaller batches but I don't raise many silks at a time. I get about 3 batches per bag from Mulberry farms.
I'll be following this for an answer.

I don't know why you would make more than you'd need, powdered chow lasts forever

I mean I don't see why it couldn't be frozen. I'm not even sure why I'm questioning it honestly. I just couldn't find anything online about freezing it.

Mostly I guess I just don't know how much I'll need at a time yet because I'm just starting with silks. I'd rather have more made up and just defrost it than have to cook more on short notice.

I make small fresh batches also but honestly can't see why freezing would hurt it, unless it gets damage from freezer burn or something. It would really be ideal if you could vacuum seal it for freezing, but that would make it harder to remove small portions I suppose. I've also never heard of freezing it but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing to do! Maybe you could send Coastal a little message and see what they say. Wouldn't hurt anything and would be interesting to know what they think!

I just cook mine in the microwave... and stir it with a fork.... takes like 8 minutes... then I cool it for like an hour before using it. Honestly silk worms go through chow a lot slower than you'd think. They only need to be fed once a day once they white colors.

Dont freeze when i make it i put it in a ziplock bag and cut the corner of the bag to squirt in container with silkworms then put back in fridge and it last forever
