how long do the eggs take to hatch just from being laid... no fridge time... and is the hatch rate the same or not?

i've heard mixed opinions on this.. thanks inadvance

I have some being laid right now. I'll let you know when they hatch (those that will not be refridgerated).
PM and Remind me if I forget to come back to this thread!

I'm not totally sure but from what I have read they need to be in the fridge at least a month.

I've read that too, recently, after having very successfully hatched them out without refridgeration. However my nights were cool, so that might have helped. I'll be experimenting to see if one method is better than another.

The eggs we had and did not refrigerate never hatched.

The second batch we tried we put in the refrigerator for a month.. they hatched after a few weeks.

I really think they have to be refrigerated to trigger the hatching...

Mine hatched without the fridge. There must be other factors. What was the ambient temps where you kept the unrefridgerated eggs? How did you store them?

The first ones where just kept at room temp.. about 72 degrees. The eggs where laid on egg crate cut up into small sections. The sections where in deli cups with no lid. Those eggs turned dark purple but never did hatch

Second time we popped them in the fridge for 4 weeks... Same set up on egg crate and they hatched not long after we took them out.
